Training Course on Improving Women’s Performance in the Kuwaiti National Assembly: Workshop One

This three-day civil society training course focused on women's role in influencing in conveying the performance and activities of the government and the National Assembly legislation, and was the first of a four-part series developed to empower civil society to better advocate for the rights of women in Kuwait and promote women's political participation. The training series was held in partnership with the Women's Cultural and Social Society (WCSS) and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). The training focused specifically on women's role in monitoring the Parliament, the impact of Kuwait's personal status law and other legislation on women's rights, and women's role in asserting women's rights before the Parliament. Participants included members of Parliament, lawyers, scholars, women's rights and other civil society organizations, political associations, and youth.
